For the solo traveller, spontaneity is everything. But finding a practical, comfortable, and reliable setup for one can be frustrating. Tents are cumbersome, sleeping in a car seat is uncomfortable, and permanent camper conversions are expensive and impractical for an everyday vehicle.
The Campal For One® is the answer. We designed it to be the perfect solo camper conversion. It’s not just a box; it’s a complete, precision-engineered system that provides a comfortable bed, a fully functional kitchen, and smart storage, all while fitting neatly in the boot of your car.

We’ve packed every feature a solo explorer could need into this compact and lightweight unit. Based on years of feedback from our customers, designer Martin has refined the Campal For One® to be the ultimate partner for your adventures.
Comfortable sleep and living.
- Converts to a lounger. The single bed platform easily transforms into a large, comfortable lounger, giving you plenty of headroom to sit inside, read a book, and relax.
- 8cm practical, comfortable cushions. Our soft foam cushions are 8cm thick, providing fantastic support. We specifically chose this thickness as it strikes the perfect balance of comfort and practicality: when stacked, the kit sits at or below parcel shelf height, protecting your rear-view mirror visibility while driving. - Flexible bed system. The bed is designed to be removable, providing extra storage for shorter day trips when you don't need to sleep overnight.
- Rotating table. A lightweight, removable table with a wine glass holder provides the perfect spot for a meal or working on your laptop.
A fully-featured outdoor kitchen.
- Pull-out kitchen unit. Mounted on heavy-duty, self-locking drawer runners, the entire kitchen glides out for safe and stable outdoor cooking.
- Primus Moja camping stove. We include the high-quality Primus Moja single stove. It's light, compact, and powerful enough for larger pots, with an easy-to-clean drip tray. Already have a cooker? Let us know as modifications may be possible.
- Smart kitchen storage. You'll find a dedicated shelf to maximise your prep space, a pull-out holder for two gas canisters, and plenty of storage for your food and utensils.
Ingenious design and storage.
- Internal access. The clever design allows you to access the storage compartments from inside the vehicle—essential for grabbing a blanket on a rainy night.
- Power on the go. The convenient power ports let you charge your devices without needing a bulky power pack inside the Campal box, freeing up space for other camping gear.

Your solo setup questions
How easy is it for one person to lift and install? The main box weighs approximately 45kg. While manageable, it is designed to be broken down for solo handling. For the easiest lift, we recommend you:
- Slide out the kitchen drawer.
- Remove the detachable bed sections.
- Remove the accessories.
- Lift the main box in, which is now much lighter.
Setting up in the car takes about 3–4 minutes.
Is a removable kit wobbly or noisy? No. The combination of a precision, model-specific fit and our method of securing the unit to your car’s built-in anchor points ensures a solid, rattle-free fit.
Can I fit my gear (like a bike) next to it? Yes. The ‘For One’ kit is a single-box option that leaves significant space next to it in most compatible vehicles. This space is often wide enough for a bicycle (with the front wheel removed), a surfboard, or other large adventure gear.
Why do you use 8cm cushions? Our 8cm cushions provide proven comfort for a great night’s sleep. We chose this thickness as it strikes the perfect balance of comfort and practicality—when stacked, the kit sits at or below parcel shelf height, allowing clear rear-view visibility.
Can I still use my rear passenger seats? Yes. The Campal For One® is designed to fit in the boot. When the bed is folded away, most compatible vehicles can still safely use all their rear passenger seats.
